Noah approached us earlier this year asking about using the Octagon as a venue for his self written 'Shakespeare's Greatest Hits' fundraising show. His fundraising cause: To help pay for flights and accomodation for a once in a lifetime trip to London to perform on Shakespeares Globe theatre as part of Aotearoa New Zealand's Young Shakespeare Company of 2026.

We said yes(obviously).

With two sold out performances of 'Shakespeare's Greatest Hits' in June, we managed to raise just enough to get Noah to London. Below is Noah writing about his experience after coming back:

Being a part of the 2026 Young Shakespeare Company has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life so far - and an amazing privilege.  Our schedule was packed with rehearsals at the Globe, lectures, workshops, watching shows and sightseeing around London.  For two weeks we worked with professional directors and specialist practitioners to bring an abridged performance of Much Ado About Nothing to life.  After our performance on the Globe stage, we left London for Stratford upon Avon. I was entirely enamoured with the quintessentially quaint English town that was Wiliam Shakespeare’s home town.  I feel I have arrived back in New Zealand with a deeper understanding of Shakespeare and a vastly improved skillset with regards to stage acting, which I look forward to implementing as I pursue a career in the world of dramatic arts, as well as in giving back in a small way to my community.  Infinite thanks to everyone who made this trip possible.
