Research:

Check out any media relating the production prior to auditions. This can be listening to the tracks of any music outlets/apps, slime tutorials or photographic media from the official Disenchanted Website or other theatre company productions (Specifically look at the adult versions as high school/junior versions differ).

 

Auditions:

Solo/Movement audition: (Day 1 Sun 16th August 5-8pm or Mon 17th August 5:30-6:30pm)

Day 1 auditions will be booked in 1 hour blocks (Sun: 5-6, 6-7, 7-8pm &  Mon 5:30-6:30) where 4 auditionees will start with some basic movement. Once this is over you will individually be required to prepare at least 1 verse & a chorus of a song of your preference that shows off your voice. we may ask you to sing longer if time allows.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your block begins.

 

Group Workshop audition: (Day 2 - Mon 17th August 6:30-8pm)

 As this production is a musical and we do not have microphones we will be holding a group audition to learn the finale song "Once upon a time". The goal is to see if you can blend vocally as a group, hold your own harmonies & also let us see different combinations of performers. 

Note: Familiarise yourself with the song but you don't need to memorize it.

Characters:

Belle/The Little Mermaid/Rapunzel:

Vocal Range Mezzo-Soprano / high pop belt (G3 - F5).

Belle: Comically driven insane by her talking, chattering household objects.

The Little Mermaid: A Jaded, text-book enabler who deeply regrets trading her fins for legs for a man.

Rapunzel: A disgruntled German princess furious about being corporate monetised by modern media.

 

Hua Mulan/Pocahontas/Princess Badroulbabour:

Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano (G3 - F5)

Mulan: A strong, independent woman who is tired of being the only single Princess in the club.

Pocahontas: Sarcastic and sharp; she sings about the historical inaccuracies and commercial exploitation of her story.

Badroulbadour: A parody of the Middle Eastern Princess who complains about being treated like secondary cargo on a magic carpet ride.

 

The Princess who kissed the Frog:

Vocal range high pop / gospel belt (A3 - F5+)

A Feisty, fabulous, and completely empowered woman who arrives late to the party to proudly demand the recognition she deserves as the groups First Black Princess.
